Wine Review: Robert Mondavi Bourbon Barrel Aged Chardonnay
Name –Robert Mondavi Bourbon Barrel Aged Chardonnay (Private Selection)
Vintage – 2015
Region – USA – California – Monterey
Varietal – Chardonnay
Pricing – $14
Alcohol Content – 14.5%
Bottle – Yellowish-green in appearance with a black label with white and gold font.
Wine – The wine itself is a bright golden yellow.
Heavy charred oak hits the nose initially then followed by a vanilla and peach with a touch of honey.
Nice, dry yet creamy texture coats the palate followed by less of an acidic zing than their normal Chard.
Vanilla and honey hit the palate then it moves into granny apple and honey like component. This wine stays mid palate and moves forward on the tongue.
The finish is a beautiful soft oak mixed with a peach and honey flavor.
Overall, the Robert Mondavi Bourbon Barrel Aged Chardonnay has an added sweetness unlike the original chardonnay. This really mellows out the experience. I will say that I enjoyed this one more than this lines original Chardonnay.
Food – Shellfish, Poultry, Pork
