Wine Review: Cottesbrook Reserve Sauvignon Blanc

Basic Information

Name – Cottesbrook Reserve Sauvignon Blanc

Vintage – 2016

Region – New Zealand – Marlborough

Varietal – Sauvignon Blanc

Pricing –  $16.99

Alcohol –  12.5%

Appearance

The bottle is light green/yellow with a multi colored label showing the rolling hills of New Zealand. The wine is a bright golden straw color with some greenish tints.

Aroma/Nose

The condition of the wine is clean. Notes of Gooseberry, lime, citrus and honeydew melon aromas with a slight vegetal note of fresh grass and mineral.

Palate

A dry light to medium bodied wine with high acidity. Really gives you that feeling on the palate of when you put a lemon in your mouth. A strong citrus flavor initially with a grassy component. This is followed by a stone-like finish that lingers for some time.

Finish

A medium mineral finish that is refreshing.

Overall Experience

Nice simple Sauvignon Blanc that is refreshing and clean on the palate. Not an overwhelming amount of fruit variety but delivers some really good non-fruit components to keep it interesting enough to keep going. I would recommend this for a warmer day that you feel like drinking but want to keep it light.
