Villiger Do Brasil Maduro – Cigar Review

Villiger Do Brasil Maduro

This is a cigar review of the Villiger Do Brasil Maduro by Villiger Cigars. The size chosen for this review is the robusto. This sports a Brazilian Maduro wrapper followed by Arapica tobacco. This cigar is a medium bodied smoke that retails for $9.00.

Villiger Chairman of the Board, Heinrich Villiger said:” My family saw the value in Brazilian tobacco when they began Villiger Cigars as very small operation in 1888. Brazilian tobacco is unique, as its structure is very robust, which leads to strong aromas and flavours. Its distinct qualities can only be created in Bahia, Brazil. We look forward to sharing the Villiger do Brasil brand with the United States marketplace.”

This Villiger Do Brasil has a silky dark brown wrapper that feels amazing in your hand. The seams are tight, and veins kept to a minimum.

Aromas of cedar and coffee fill the nostrils upon the pre-light ritual. We utilized the straight cut on this review, which produced cedar and coffee notes on the cold draw.

After Toast:

First third – Cedar, leather and coffee notes all grace the palate initially upon light. The coffee notes really take the stage here with the leather really lingering on the long finish. Real masculine combo! The burn is sharp, ash holds strong and the body is a solid medium.

Second Third – The cedar is still present, but this is a story of coffee and leather. Simple yet fantastic pronounced flavor. The burn remains sharp, ash falls at the halfway point and body remains a solid medium.

Final Third – Coffee notes completely electrify the palate here with the leather subsiding to the background. The burn remains sharp and body a solid medium.

Suggested Pairing:

  • Bourbon – Redemption Bourbon Whiskey
  • Whiskey – Kavanagh Irish Whiskey
  • Scotch – Sheildaig Speyside Single Malt 12 Yr

Overall Experience:

This Villiger Do Brasil Maduro was a nice consistent smoke experience that held true to everything we expected from our pre-light experience. The cedar, leather and coffee notes hold throughout the entire experience leaving your palate satisfied right up until it was time to put out. If you come across this give it a buy in your local shops!
