Tatuaje Nuevitas – Cigar Review

Tatuaje Nuevitas

This is a cigar review of the Tatuaje Nuevitas. The size chosen for this review is the Jibaro (Robusto Extra). The composition of this smoke consists of a Nicaraguan Corona 99 wrapper followed by a Nicaraguan binder and filler blend. This is a medium + bodied smoke that retails around $8.60.

Construction/Appearance:

The Tatuaje Nuevitas is a nice reddish brown in color with minimal veins and slightly visible seams. This is finished with a shaggy foot.

Pre-Light:

Aromas of sweet nuts engulf the nasal passage upon the pre light sniff test. The type of cut used is the straight cut. The cold draw produces notes similar to that of the nose with the sweet nuts taking the stage.

After Toast:

First third – Spicy nuts and sweet tobacco kick this cigar off with a medium plus body. These notes continue through the third but pick up an earthy finish. The burn is slightly wavy and ash holds through the third.

Second Third – The Spicy nuts and sweet tobacco mixed with an earthy finish all continue into this third. The body fades to medium, burn remains slightly wavy and ash falls at the halfway point.

Final Third – The notes remain unchanged with Spicy nuts and sweet tobacco followed by an earthy finish. The body picks up towards full and burn remains slightly wavy.

Suggested Pairing:

Wine – Aglianico Del Vulture Riserva

Whiskey – Gentleman Jack

Overall Experience:

This Tatuaje Nuevitas had a rich flavor profile of nuts, tobacco and earth, which lead to a pleasant experience. There were virtually no changes in the transition point leaving the experience 100% consistent all the way through from start to finish, with the only differentiation point being the strength and body of the smoke changing. I like this cigar and would definitely have again given the opportunity.
