Construction/Appearance:

This Rocky Patel Edge Corojo has a nice textured orange brown wrapper with some larger sized veins visible and invisible seams.

Pre-Light:

Aromas of nuts and raisin engulf the nose on the pre-light sniff test. We used a Colibri straight cut. The cold draw produces light cedar notes followed by a sweet natural tobacco.

After Toast:

First Third – Notes of cashew, spice and white pepper start this cigar off with a nice medium bodied experience on the palate. An earthy note come in on the finish as the cigar progresses through the third. The burn is wavy and ash falls at the inch mark.

Second Third – Cedar, cashew, spice and an earthy finish are the primary notes that hold down this third. The body is still medium, burn remains wavy.

Final Third – The cedar and spice pick up here nicely almost creating that white gumdrop like flavor component in this profile. The white pepper kicks back in while the body moves to medium plus. The burn remains wavy.

Suggested Pairing:

Bourbon – Bulleit

Wine – Domaine Carneros Estate Pinot Noir

Overall Experience:

This Rocky Patel The Edge Corojo is a nice cigar with three really dominant notes in the flavor profile with cedar, spice and cashew. The cashew note is the best of them in this experience, which makes the 1st and 2nd thirds really good. The subtle white pepper is on the bookends, which always gives the cigar some depth, but I wish it was present in the middle too as I really enjoyed that component. This is a good cigar from Rocky Patel at a solid price point that could fit any budget for a good premium smoke.
