Construction/Appearance:
This Montecristo Media Noche is a rich oily dark chocolate in color with veins that look like stitches. The seams are tight.
Pre-Light:
Aroma – Sweet Chocolate and Spice
Type of Cut – Straight
Cold Draw – Chocolate and Raisin
After Toast:
First Third – Dark Chocolate and sweet spice followed by a sweet spice and leathery finish. The burn is sharp and ash fell at inch and half mark.
Second Third – The dark chocolate and spice remain but there are some cedar notes that begin to enter the fold. The leather still packs a punch on the finish. The burn remains sharp.
Final Third – Dark Chocolate, spice and cedar continue here with that leathery finish picking up some pepper notes on the finish. The burn remains sharp.
Suggested Pairing:
Wine – Markham Tannat
Scotch – Glenlivet Nadurra
Overall Experience:
Overall the Montecristo Media Noche is a good smoke experience with a few really good notes that keep it interesting. The dark chocolate and spice are the key to this smoke, but the leather and cedar play nice complimentary roles. I have smoked quite a few of these and they never seem to disappoint and are always consistent.
