This Markham Tannat 2014 is a deep purple in color.

The nose is clean with a medium intensity of aromas. Aromas consist of raspberry / blackberry and plum fruits followed by smoke and vanilla.

This Markham Tannat 2014 is a dry wine with medium acidity and body, medium (+) tannins and body. The flavor profile is full of both red and dark berry fruits such as raspberry, blackberry and plum. A chocolate type note comes out on the long finish with some oak notes.

Overall Experience

We thought this Markham Tannat 2014 was a very good wine and picked up a bottle at the vineyard. It had a nice complexity level, balance and finish we look for when enjoying a wine drinking experience. I would say if you can find this experimental wine from Markham, pick it up!

Food – Beef, Sausage, Lamb, Duck

Winemakers Notes

The key to any great wine is the fruit. It is our honor to present this special bottling of Tannat grown by our vineyard manager and his wife on their home vineyard. Dark plum color draws you in to dense smoke, petroleum and pencil shaving aromas layered over raspberry & cola. Juicy, plush texture gives way to more cola and red fruit flavors supported by balanced, integrated tannins. A conversation starter that would pair spice rubbed pork tenderloin over a cassoulet of white beans. Cheers to you Peter & Ann!
