After Toast:
First Third – Chocolate and wood start this cigar off with a light earthy pepper note on the finish. Some cinnamon spice and salted nutty notes come in towards the end of the third and the pepper is definitely a red pepper. The burn is sharp and ash holds through the third.
Second Third – This second third does not transition a whole lot and the chocolate, cinnamon spice, wood and salted nutty notes all hang on here. The burn remains sharp and ash falls at the halfway point.
Final Third – The Chocolate, cinnamon and salty nuts continue into this third with no real change. The burn is sharp.
Suggested Pairing:
Scotch – Macallan 18yr
Wine – Opus One Overture
Overall Experience:
This Las Calaveras EL 2018 is a phenomenal smoke experience with loads of chocolate, cinnamon and spice that really take your palate for a whirl. The notes are so pronounced and distinctive that it just continuously makes you salivate for the next puff. The transitions were minimal, but that’s okay with this smoke due to the great flavor profile. Trust me you wouldn’t want it to change!
