EP Carrillo INCH Natural – Cigar Review

EP Carrillo INCH Natural

This is a cigar review of the EP Carrillo INCH Natural by E.P Carrillo Cigars. The size chosen for this review is the Gordo (5.9×60). This cigar is composed of an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper followed by Nicaraguan and Dominican fillers. This is a medium plus bodied smoke that retails around $9.20.

Construction/Appearance:

This EP Carrillo INCH Natural has a matte reddish brown wrapper with a few decent sized veins and obvious seams that are slightly lifted in spots.

Pre-Light:

Aromas of cedar, nuts and prune all come forth on the pre-light of the smoke. The type of cut we are using is a straight cut and the cold draw produces notes of cedar and raisin.

After Toast:

First Third – Notes of tangy cedar and spice are the dominant notes right out of the gate. A. Ice creamed coffee note comes into play along with the other flavors once this settles in. The body is medium plus, burn is slightly wavy and ash holds through the third.

Second Third – The tangy cedar, spice and coffee notes really continue into this third. The finish is al Cream like notes. The body remains medium plus, burn remains slightly wavy and ash holds falls at the 2.5 inch mark.

Final Third – This tangy cedar note mixed with spice are on the forefront followed by that Irish creamed coffee like note and its phenomenal. The body is still medium plus and burn remains slightly wavy.

Suggested Pairing:

Scotch – Glenlivet 15

Wine – Markham Merlot

Overall Experience:

Overall we thought this EP Carrillo INCH Natural is a fine smoke with plenty of pronounced notes that grace the palate in a balance manner throughout the entire experience. One trait in a cigar I will never get tired of is a dessert like finish and this smoke delivered the Irish creamed coffee to really solidify an already great smoke. This is definitely worth checking out given the opportunity.
