This Decoy Zinfandel 2016 is clear and pale ruby in color.


Wine comes off clean with medium intensity aromas. The aromas consist of red currant, cherry and anise. Notes of vanilla and oak also hit the nose with maybe a subtle tobacco. I would consider this wine developing.


On the palate, the wine is dry with high acidity, medium tannins and medium plus body. This wine also has medium (+) intensity of flavors. The flavor profile closely mirrors the nose. Flavors consisting of tart cherry and red currant followed by vanilla, leather. The finish is long in length with the tobacco like note carrying the profile after the wine is gone.

Overall Experience

This Decoy Zinfandel had a great balance, complexity, intensity and finish making it an outstanding wine. I have always been a fan of Decoy due to the quality you get for the price point and this Zinfandel definitely does not disappoint.
