After Toast:
First Third – The cigar starts off with some floral like notes mixed with leather and spice. Strong start! Few minutes in an orange/citrus note hits the palate with a zing. Nice change of pace from the initial light. The burn is slightly wavy and ash is holding on strong.
Second Third – A nutty component comes into play with the florals still sitting on the finish. The floral notes linger for a while between puffs. Like a bouquet of fresh spring flowers. A real interesting mix. The burn remains slightly wavy and ash fell at the halfway point of the cigar.
Final Third – The nutty and floral notes carry into this third, but the spice kicks up here! A very sophisticated flavor profile that really tantalizes the palate. The burn self corrected to sharp on the finish.
Suggested Pairing:
Bourbon – Bulleit
Wine – Mumm Napa Santana Brut, Chandon Sweet Star
Overall Experience:
This Villiger La Flor de Ynclan is a solid smoke experience with a medium plus intensity. Lots of interesting flavors in the profile within this blend with the floral, citrus and nutty component all brought together with some spice on the finale. A true complex experience that I would have again and again. This is a must try for those of you who haven’t.
