Cigar Review: Tatuaje Skinny Monsters The Jason

Basic Information: Tatuaje Skinny Monsters The Jason

Manufacturer – Tatuaje Cigars

Size – Lancero

Wrapper – Connecticut Broadleaf

Tobacco Blend – Nicaragua

Pricing – $8.50

Body – Full

The cigar is a deep chocolate brown color with some lighter orange spots. This cigar is toothy and has a few visible veins and slightly lifted seams.

Aroma – Charcoal, Smoke and Wood

Type of Cut – Straight

Cold Draw – Nuts and Wood

After Toast:

First Third – Notes of chocolate, wood, spice and pepper start this one off strong! Once this settles, a leathery note appears on the finish intermingling with the peppery notes. The burn is sharp and ash fell at the inch and a half mark.

Second Third – Chocolate, wood and leather mixed with an earthy tone transition this third nicely. This has been a full bodied smoke since the light. The wood notes really become the main flavor in this third with the earth sticking on the palate on the finish. Burn remains sharp.

Final Third – The wood transitions to straight oak flavor followed by earth and a leather finish. Still a completely full bodied experience.

Suggested Pairing:

Scotch – Aberfeldy 12

Wine – Josh Sauvignon Blanc

Overall Experience:

The Tatuaje Skinny Monsters The Jason is a solid cigar however there are better “monsters” out there like the Michael and the Krueger. Lots of full flavors, but this one isn’t nearly as complex of an experience as some of the others in this line. If this was available I’d have it again for sure, but if I had a choice between the others, I’d go with the alternative.
