Construction/Appearance:
This Rocky Patel Super Ligero is a dark chocolate in color with some really big visible veins and invisible seams.
Pre-Light:
Aroma – Chocolate and Barnyard
Type of Cut – Straight
Cold Draw – Sweet Cedar and Raisin
After Toast:
First Third – Dark chocolate, a nice espresso with pepper and spice kick off this third. The burn is sharp and ash holds through the third.
Second Third – The dark chocolate and espresso notes carry into this third with a nice bbq like wood note. The spice slows down a bit here too. The burn remains sharp and ash fell at the halfway point.
Final Third – A cherry note comes into play with the wood and cinnamon spice to guide your palate to a peppery finish. Full bodied for sure here.
Suggested Pairing:
Bourbon – Rabbit Hole Sherry Cask
Wine – Pine Ridge Cabernet
Overall Experience:
This Rocky Patel Super Ligero had a lot of quality flavors within the profile. Definitely a really rich profile to wrap your palate around for a solid hour. I personally liked the cherry note at the end and thought it was a nice touch to finish this off.
