First Third – The Rocky Patel Hamlet 25thYear starts with some vanilla, nuts and a spicy peppery note on the finish. The vanilla and spice begin once this cigar settles in with an almond flavor that follows. The burn is sharp and ash fell at the end of the third.
Second Third – Almond and spice take the wheel in this third with the vanilla moving to the finish. The burn remained sharp.
Final Third – The final third starts with a toasted bread like flavor with the spice still lingering on the finish. Cedar come into play about the very end of this cigar with the spice stillhanging on until the the last puff.
Suggested Pairing:
Scotch – Glenlivet 15
Wine – Del Dotto Chardonnay
Overall Experience:
I can say with certainty that almond within the flavor profile is probably one of my favorite notes in a cigar. What a fantastic palate experience with just enough power to push it over the mild bodied mark to medium. While it’s not incredibly complex from a flavor profile and major transitions standpoint, I think the Rocky Patel Hamlet 25th Year is a perfect cigar for anyone who enjoys a good medium smoke.
