Construction/Appearance:
The cigar is bright brown color with few veins and invisible seams.
Pre-Light:
Aroma – Cedar

After Toast:
First Third – Cream, floral, nuts and spice kick this off with a nice cedar finish. Some other wood notes come into play once this settles and the finish turns to a mix between the cedar and leather. Burn starts sharp and ash holds through the third.
Second Third – Wood, cream and spice continue into this third. The cedar holds the finish with a little tang. Some of the nutty notes continue to pop up sporadically on the palate. A good medium bodied stick thus far. The burn remained sharp and ash fell at the mid-point of the stick.
Final Third – The final third becomes real rich in flavor with salt and nut-like notes. The cedar and wood remain but picks up some earthy tones on the finish. The spice calms down in this final stage. The floral notes mentioned in the beginning come back to finish the cigar. And the body moves up a level to in third to a medium plus smoke.
Suggested Pairing:
Scotch – The Dimple Pinch
Wine – Gerd Anselmann Riesling Pfalz Kabinett or Belle Glos Rosé
Overall Experience:
The Regius Black Label is a good overall cigar with a nice, complex flavor profile. I really enjoyed the wood like notes with cream and spice in the second third the best during the experience as it blended exceptionally well on the palate at this point. This was my first experience with the brand and I can honestly say I will be back for more.
