Cigar Review: Plasencia Alma Del Campo

Basic Information:

Name – Plasencia Alma Del Campo

Producer – Plasencia Cigars

Size – Gordo

Wrapper – Nicaragua

Tobacco Blend –  Nicaragua

Pricing – $18.05

Body – Medium

Construction/Appearance:

This cigar is reddish brown in color with minimal veins and invisible seams. The wrapper has a bright shine and the cigar is finished with a triple cap.

Pre-Light:

Aroma – Cedar

Type of Cut – Straight

Cold Draw – Cedar and creamy French Vanilla

After Toast:

First Third – Cream and nutty like flavors kick this off with a nice black pepper on the back of the palate. Baking spices soon enter into the mix as well adding depth to the nutty profile. The burn is perfect and the ash held up through this third.

Second Third – A leather note leads the transition with an earthy tone that adds nicely to the flavor profile. Some black fruit like notes are subtly revealed in this third. A real cool transition thus far. Burn remained perfect. The ash fell just after the third started.

Final Third – A nice cedar note mixes with the light fruit and leather for yet another awesome transition. The earthy notes linger on the palate long after the smoke clears. Burn remained perfect.

Suggested Pairing:

Wine – Stags Leap SLV or Domaine Carneros Hyde Vineyard Merlot

Scotch – Basil Hayden

Overall Experience:

This Plasencia Alma Del Campo was an amazing flavor bomb. The amount of different flavor varieties you get in this stick is well worth the price tag. I would highly recommend this to any cigar aficionado out there looking for a medium + body smoking experience with a ton of complexity.
