Pre-Light:

Aroma:  Aromatics of sweet cedar, molasses, and natural tobacco

Type of Cut: V-cut

Cold Draw:  Notes of wet sweet cedar and sugared raisin come forth.

After Toast:

First Third – Initial notes of oak and vanilla with a heavy long floral finish. Truly a cyclical experience right out of the gate. Each puff rotates exactly that order of flavors. Few minutes in got a fruity note of a white peach. It was quick, but present. That causes a transition into natural tobacco flavors with spice and toasted French oak and black pepper on the retro hale. About 15 minutes in a zing of citrus flies through the palate, like a lemon or orange zest.  Thought that was interesting.  Slightly canoed a bit and required a touch up. Slow burn. Ash dark charcoal gray.

Second Third – Entering the second third a toasted oak mixed with lychee/vegetal component mellowed the crazy flavor profile. Some spice shows itself as well. Black pepper still present but much lighter. A few minutes in the fruity flavors come back. Like a citrus infused fruit punch.  Really refreshing on this 90-degree day.  Then retreats back to a nice natural sweet honey and tobacco flavor.

Final Third – Cedar and nutty flavors begin the final third. Pepper and spice are gone. Slight mint component enters. The mint grows stronger for the finish and lingers.

Suggested Pairing:

Gentleman Jack

Terrazas De Los Andes Malbec

Overall Experience:

I really thought the PDR Small Batch Habano experience was pretty cool by PDR Cigars. The flavor profiles really transformed with some unique aromas coming to fruition the deeper you looked into it. The flavors are nice for someone who is looking to begin to identify complexity in a cigar.  Anyone who is a cigar fan I think would thoroughly enjoy this smoke.
