Cigar Review: Oliva Serie G Maduro

Basic Information:

Name – Oliva Serie G Maduro

Size – Petite Robusto

Wrapper – Cameroon

Tobacco Blend – Nicaragua

Pricing – $5.00

Body – Medium

The cigar is a rich dark chocolate color with a few evident veins and invisible seams. The stick is box pressed and finished with a double cap.

Aroma – Barnyard and Smoke

Type of Cut – Straight

Cold Draw – Wet Cedar and Nuts

After Toast:

First Third – Earthy notes kick this thing off with some woody flavors. There is almost a vegetable note that I find interesting on this one in the beginning followed by some black pepper on the back of your palate. Burn was razor sharp and ash held strong.

Second Third – A black coffee note comes out along with toasted oak flavors. The cigar has a tangy component as well, but not quite citrus and not cedar. The burn remained perfect and ash fell at the halfway point of the cigar.

Final Third – Final third is really rich with oak, deep earth and black coffee flavors.

Suggested Pairing:

Bourbon – Knob Creek

Wine – Trapiche Oak Cask Malbec or Matua Rose

Overall Experience:

Overall, this was a decent small short smoke that probably would be perfect with coffee in the morning as a complementary flavor profile. A real rich medium bodied smoke experience that keeps your mind trying to dissect the flavors as they are much different than most smokes out there today. Anything with a Cameroon wrapper has something a little special in terms of flavor. Give it a shot.
