The band is not your standard Oliva band, which could throw you off. The “MB” stands for master blend is on the top along with a picture of nature and the number 3. The cigar is box pressed and with a toothy feel to the touch. Milk chocolate in color with minimal veins and tight seams. This cigar is finished with a double cap.

Aroma – Cedar and Barnyard

Type of Cut – Straight

Cold Draw – Cedar and Chocolate

After Toast:

First third – Pleasant woody notes start this off mixed with spice and a light chocolate note. There is a slight pepper on the finish hitting the back of the throat as well. Towards the middle of this third it transitions to a light leather with the pepper kicking up in strength. The burn was pristine. Ash a mid gray and holding strong.

Second Third – Transition was smooth as silk. Now the leather has kicked up gradually to a heavy feel on the palate. Truly evolved to the upper echelon of full body cigar in this third. To finish this third, leather lightens up to an earthy like note with a cocoa finish. Beautiful experience thus far. Burn remained pristine. Ash fell at the half way point of the cigar.

Final Third – Leather is still the dominant flavor with some nutty undertones. Still heavy on the palate and full bodied. Some spice kicked in towards the very end as well, but the leather lingers on the palate forever on the finish.

Suggested Pairing:

Scotch – Macallan 15

Wine – Jigsaw Pinot Noir

Overall Experience:

The Oliva Master Blends 3 was a complex stick, especially in the beginning. That is a fantastic way to begin a cigar. Keeping the smoker interested to what is next on each puff. It was a full bodied experience with very rich flavors pounding the palate throughout the entire experience. Great release from the Oliva’s.
