Band– One oversized black band that runs the length of the cigar with white font and a matte black font layer that shows a slight contrast.
Cigar is dark chocolate in color with some light brown spotting, oily and firm. Ton of big veins giving it an extremely rough feeling to the touch. Almost looks like stitches. Seams are visible. The cigar is triple capped.
Aroma – Sweet Hay
Type of Cut – V-Cut
Cold Draw – Simple light cedar and sweetness.
First third – Initial roasted nuts, coffee and cream notes hit the palate with a black pepper on the retro hale. 10 minutes in the cigar gets rich and earthy. Burn is wavy with a quarter inch canoe. Ash is flaky, mid gray in color with a black line where the charred vein is.
Second Third – In the second third rich earth and espresso are the dominant flavors to start. Cigar went out on its own and required a relight at the half way point. Caught a little red pepper as well a little more than halfway through. Smoke output is plentiful. Burn remains wavy even after the touchup.
Final Third – Notes ofred pepper, espresso and cream begin this third. Half way through that toasted rich nutty flavor comes back that we experienced in the beginning along with the earthy notes to close this out. Burn remained wavy.
Bulleit Bourbon – It will lighten up the cigar experience and give additional depth to the bourbon. They balance each other well as one is heavy and the other rather light.
Wine – Jigsaw Pinot Noir
This Obsidian Cigar is full-bodied and extremely heavy on the palate. It’s a meaty stick. One to smoke while grilling some massive steaks. Good full-bodied stick for beginners to take a step to that next power level with minimal complexity and flavor transition.
