Construction/Appearance:
The Nub Sumatra is a nice orange brown in color with little to no veins and barely there seams.
Pre-Light:
Aroma – Barnyard, Chocolate
Type of Cut – Straight
Cold Draw – Raisin
After Toast:
First Half – Spicy cedar notes kick this off with a light pepper on the back of the throat. A nice syrupy notes similar to molasses and wood kicks in.. The burn is sharp and ash holds through the half..
Final Half – Spicy cedar, wood and molasses continue into this third with little difference from the first half yet the flavors pronounced enough and tasty. The burn remains sharp and ash fell at the halfway point.
Suggested Pairing:
Bourbon – Makers Mark
Scotch – Johnnie Walker White Walker
Wine – Seleccion Especial Sardon de Duero
Overall Experience:
The spiciness and molasses notes are always a great combo for any smoke and they are perfect in this Nub Sumatra. While this one did not have much in terms of transition it still was a great simple smoke experience. The Nub line is constructed well so the ash is always solid on these smokes.
