After Toast:
First Third – Nuts and cedar initially hit the palate but then shifts to a nice toasty caramel finish. After a few minutes, the caramel notes fade to a popcorn flavor. Yes, popcorn! A total surprise. Some creamy notes follow mixed with light earth take form towards the middle to end of the third. The burn is sharp and ash holds.
Second Third – Vanilla, almond, cedar and light spice begin this third. The toasted caramel flavor still remains on the finish. A slight earthy tone is revealed once again in this third. The burn remains sharp and ash fell at the mid-point of the cigar.
Final Third – Cedar with a nut-like component dominate the flavor profile followed by caramel and some anise, baking spice with a floral finish. Saved the floral notes for a nice dessert-like finish on this stick. The burn remains sharp.
Suggested Pairings:
Rye – Basil Haydens Dark Rye
Wine – Castello di Amorosa Chardonnay
Overall Experience:
Overall, this La Boheme is a beautiful smoke with a consistent yet complex flavor profile. With 4-7 flavors in each third to wrap your palate around, it makes for an incredibly interesting and great smoking experience.
