The band is brown paper bag like with black font.

Aroma – Smoked Hickory and Mesquite with hints of BBQ meats and burning leaves.

Type of Cut – Straight

Cold Draw – Smoked Hickory, Beef Jerky and Leaves.

After Toast:

First third – First off, a meaty flavor hits the palate quickly followed by a short burst of vanilla followed by a smoked wood finish. Each puff is a really cool experience to start this smoke. The vanilla fades a few minutes in and an herbal note, like sage, comes through probably from the chlorophyll in the candela. This is followed by a real savory meaty smoked wood finish. Salivation at its finest. Burn is slightly wavy. Ash is an oily gray color.

Second Third – Smoked wood continues the flavor profile but the light vanilla and sage note comes back. Some peppered meat as well but not overpowering. Smoked wood lingers on the palate for a long finish. Burn remains wavy. The ash is still holding strong.

Final Third – Starts off with a nice tangy note followed by the smoked wood (oak and hickory) and sage flavors. Another herbaceous note such as a rosemary could be identified here but unless your looking for it, it will be missed. Finish is of charred oak on and long lasting. Ash fell off at the beginning of this third at the band right where the Candela meets the American wrapper.

Suggested Pairing:

Scotch – Johnny Walker Double Black

Wine – Terrazas de los Andes Reserva Malbec

Overall Experience:

Just when you think a blend a particular cigar can’t get any better the Drew Estate guys pull this one out in 2016. Turning a really meaty experience from the original Kentucky Fire Cured and adding some refreshing components by adding the Candela. Loved this smoke.  Being from Pennsylvania, the aromas and taste reminded me of a good ol’ backyard BBQ mixed with a culinary experience of a Miami based high end restaurant. Incredible unique experience this Kentucky Fire Cured Swamp Thang provides that everyone should try. Definitely not for everyday, but when you just want a change of pace this one will do the trick.
