First Third – A mixture of leather, coffee, cedar and spice all hit the palate immediately. An oily leather note lingers on the finish in between puffs. The leather and coffee alternate through the third as primary flavors. Burn is sharp and the ash held strong.
Second Third – The leather and cedar notes hit hard here, going from rich to tangy, and really zing the palate. Nice transition. Just passed the half way point, coffee kicks back in pushing the leather to the finish with a slight peppery tickle on the back of the throat. A real robust flavor profile at this point.
Final Third – Pepper and leather take off making this a top end of full bodied smoke. The cedar shows back up for the final minutes of the cigar with the leather leaving a real nice flavor on the palate to linger.
Bourbon – Woodford Reserve
The Joya de Nicaragua Antano Gran Reserva is a great stick with four flavors that are continually rotating through to take your palate for a whirl. A full bodied smoke for sure that sits heavy on the tongue. Perfect for a cool day where you want something with a good strength component.
Cigar Aficionado – 92pts.
