Basic Information:

Size – Toro
Wrapper – Nicaragua Corojo
Tobacco Blend – Nicaragua
Pricing – $10.76

Construction/Appearance:
This cigar is a nice marbled reddish brown color with very few veins. The seams are invisible and this cigar is finished with a triple cap.
Pre-Light:
Aroma – Smoked Wood, Cedar
Type of Cut – Straight
Cold Draw – Cedar and Nuts
After Toast:
First Third – Initial notes of wood and cedar play on the plate along with a pepper sensation on the back of the throat. A nice sweetness kicks in with the cedar a few minutes into this third. The burn is slightly jagged and ash flaked but solid.
Second Third – The wood notes, similar of fresh cut oak, take the main stage with a touch of sweetness. The finish is a bit earthy, which is a change from the beginning. The ash fell at the start of this third and burn remained wavy.
Final Third – The wood and cedar notes are up front and center again. The cedar comes a tangy note that really entices the palate to salivate. The burn remained wavy.
Suggested Pairing:
Scotch – Lagavulin 16
Wine – Dolce Late Harvest or Del Dotto Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
Overall Experience:
This El Gueguense from Foundation Cigars was a nice Nicaraguan treat! The wood like notes really make for a good medium + body experience. I think this brand is up and coming and heading in the right direction. I picked this up at a viewing party at Prime Cigar in Miami for the movie Handrolled hosted by Foundation cigars.
