Basic Information: E.P. Carrillo Encore Majestic

Manufacturer – E.P Carrillo Cigars

Size – Robusto

Wrapper – Nicaragua

Tobacco Blend – Nicaragua

Pricing – $10.50

Body – Medium +

Construction/Appearance:

This E.P. Carrillo Encore Majestic is a nice medium brown leather in color with a few subtle veins and slightly lifted seams. This stick is half box pressed into an oval like shape.

Pre-Light:

Aroma – Barnyard and Cedar

Type of Cut – Straight

Cold Draw – Sweet Cedar

After Toast:

First Third – Oak and spice take the stage right out of the gate with a nice deep peppery note sitting on the back of the palate. A nice orange peel like note comes into play a few minutes in. Some natural tobacco and oily leather notes kick in too. The burn is wavy and ash holds through the third.

Second Third – The Spicy Oak notes carry into this third with some cedar undertones. The natural tobacco nots also show themselves in and out. The citrus rind type notes also continually pop in and out as well. The burn remains wavy and ash fell at the halfway point.

Final Third – The Spicy Oak note is beautiful in this smoke. Almost like a nice aged red or chardonnay. The citrus rind note comes back full force here as well. The oiled leather hits the finish hard and lingers. The burn remains wavy.

Suggested Pairing:

Wine – Caymus Cabernet, Abadia Retuerta Blanco Ledomaine

Scotch – Johnnie Walker Blue

Overall Experience:

This E.P. Carrillo Encore Majestic is a great smoke from start to finish. The oak is a predominant flavor, but the flavor in the profile that gives this the distinctness you would expect out of the cigar of the year is the citrus rind. What a nice change of pace and I think Cigar Aficionado nailed this for 2018!
