Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic – Cigar Review

Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic

This is a cigar review of a Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic by My Father Cigars. The size chosen for this review is the robusto. This cigar’s composition consists of a Habano Rosado wrapper followed by a Nicaraguan tobacco blend. This is a full bodied smoke that is priced around $6.40.

Construction/Appearance:

A caramel/tan like corojo wrapper with minimal veins and slightly visible seams.

Pre-Light:

Aromas of cedar and almond really entice the nose on the pre-light sniff test. The type of cut we used is the straight cut. The cold draw produces notes of almond and cedar, which follows the nose perfectly.

After Toast:

First Third – Almond, cedar and pepper start this smoke with a bold punch to the palate. Great flavor. Once this gets going, the wood like notes come into play and mixes with the almond beautifully. The burn is pristine and ash holding strong.

Second Third – The almond mixes with spice and caramel at this point and pepper sits on the finish. An amazing transition. The ash fell at the beginning of this third but the burn remains sharp.

Final Third– Vanilla, almond and wood flavors dance on the palate in an amazing rhythm. An outstanding smoking experience thus far. Towards the very end, a floral note mingles in for the finale. The burn remained sharp.

Suggested Pairing:

Scotch – Macallan 18 Sherry Oak

Wine – Louis Latour Pouilly Fuisse

Overall Experience:

This Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic is a beautiful smoking experience that’s full of flavors. True notes of almond, wood, spice and the floral finish make for a complex experience that every cigar Aficionado should try. The price point for the quality is unmatched on this stick.
