Construction/Appearance:
Cigar is medium brown in color and silky to the touch. One big visible vein with tight seams. Finished with a double cap.
Pre-Light:
Aroma – Nuts and Brown Sugar
Type of Cut – Straight
Cold Draw – Sweet Nuts
After Toast:
First Third – Nuts, cedar, brown sugar and a slight spicy note all come forth as this starts off! Some toasty bread notes intermingle with the sweetness and nutty notes once this settles in. Light leathery finish. Medium bodied thus far with a sharp burn and solid ash.
Second Third – The nuts and sweetness of brown sugar really settle in to the primary notes of the cigar. A slight spice here. The burn remains sharp and ash fell at the 2.5 inch mark.
Final Third – This stick gets buttery here with the brown sugar and nuts coming in afterwards. The finish is a nice strong cedar note. Still a medium bodied experience. At the very end the bourbon sweetness really amps up! The burn remains sharp.
Suggested Pairing:
Bourbon – Rabbit Hole Sherry Cask Aged
Wine – Cune Rioja
Overall Experience:
This Diesel Whiskey Row is a great smoke with a phenomenal flavor profile. The nuts, cedar and brown sugary sweetness really make the palate salivate. The spiciness gives it just that little bit of kick needed to keep it interesting. I could smoke this thing all day.
