First third – Initial light has a real rich robust earthy note that blasts the palate. Then coffee and a nutty-like flavors are revealed as the cigar heats up. Slight pepper on the finish. Burn is perfect. Ash is light gray fell off at the 1.5-inch mark.
Second Third – Earth notes still remain, but a nice vanilla and French roast coffee become predominant. Really nice smooth transition.
Final Third – Coffee remains along with the earth and vanilla. Slight citrus and floral note kicks in for a refreshing finish. Burn remained perfect.
Wine – Duckhorn The Discussion
Overall the Cohiba Maduro 5 Genios was about as smooth as a smoke comes. The transitions were defined and seamless on the palate with a few late surprises. This cigar was a great way to finish up the anniversary weekend with the wife.
