Cigar Review: Cohiba Blue

Basic Information: Cohiba Blue

Manufacturer – Cohiba Cigars

Size – Robusto

Wrapper – Honduran Habano

Tobacco Blend – Dominican and Nicaraguan

Pricing – $9.25

Body –  Medium

The cigar wrapper is reddish brown in color and a glow-like shine from the oils. There are minimal veins with visible tight seams.

Aroma – Cedar and Spice

Type of Cut – Straight

Cold Draw – Cedar, Raisin and Cinnamon

After Toast:

First Third – Cedar, cream and spice take the stage with a soft sweet leather-like finish. The body is a solid medium at this point. The cigar has a sharp burn and the ash holds strong.

Second Third – The second third carries over with spice, some jasmine like notes and a leathery finish. The jasmine makes for a truly distinctive component to the smoking experience. The burn remained sharp and ash fell at 2.5 inches.

Final Third – The final third is sweet jasmine, cedar, spice and a nice medium strength leather on the finish. A true medium bodied cigar experience.

Suggested Pairing:

Wine – Domaine Carneros Brut Rosé or Mumm Napa Santana Brut

Scotch – The Dimple Pinch

Overall Experience:

This Cohiba Blue was pretty consistent from the second third on when the flavors picked up that jasmine note. As mentioned above, it makes this smoking experience something truly different and unique. A great flavor profile that I think anyone would enjoy. This is a buy in my book.
