The band is a simple off white with brown and tan detail work. The signature of Rick Rodriguez, who is their blender, is on the band as well.

The cigar is a rich reddish brown color with a nice shine. There are a few obvious veins. The seams are invisible. The cigar is finished with a triple cap.

Aroma – Cedar, Raisin and Earth

Cold Draw – Straight tangy cedar

After Toast:

First third – This opens up with cedar, nuts and some vanilla spice. Medium bodied beginning. Later in the third, vanilla mixed with a coffee like note comes forward. The ash is light gray and burn is wavy.

Second Third – Coffee, cedar and earthy notes plunge into the palate. Cigar gets rich but body still remains medium. The ash fell a little past the half way point of the cigar so close to the 3-inch mark.

Final Third – Final third, the tangy cedar becomes the dominant flavor with the coffee and earth moving to the background.

Suggested Pairing:

Wine – Castello di Amorosa Pinot Grigio or Ponzi Pinot Grigio

Bourbon – Bulleit

Overall Experience:

The CAO Pilon from CAO Cigars is one of my favorite regular go to cigars. The simple yet rich flavor profile is great for anytime of day. The price point makes it perfect for an everyday smoke or a great cigar for sharing with your buddies. It’s something they will be able to enjoy without being overpowered.
