Balmoral Dueto – Cigar Review

Balmoral Dueto

This is a cigar review of the Balmoral Dueto by Balmoral Cigars. The vitola chosen for this review is the Robusto. This cigar is made up of a Nicaraguan Jalapa wrapper followed by a Esteli binder and Brazilian and Nicaraguan blend on the interior. This is a medium bodies smoke experience that retails around $9.20.

Construction/Appearance:

This Balmoral Dueto is a nice milk chocolate in color with some minor veins running longways through the wrapper. The seams are visible yet tight.

Pre-Light:

Aroma – Cedar, Nuts and Coffee

Type of Cut – Straight

Cold Draw – Cedar and Nuts

After Toast:

First third – Nuts and coffee take the lead here with a faint spicy note hitting lightly on the finish. This is a medium bodied smoke with a razor sharp burn and ash that holds through the third.

Second Third – Not much change from the first third here with the nuts and coffee notes leading the journey. That spicy note still kicks the finish a bit. Ash fell at the middle and burn remains razor sharp.

Final Third – Much of the same delicious coffee and nut notes with a spicy finish. Very consistent smoke through and through. The burn remains sharp and body a solid medium.

Suggested Pairing:

  • Bourbon – Breaker Bourbon
  • Scotch – Glenlivet 12yr First Fill
  • Japanese Whiskey – Suntory Whisky Toki

Overall Experience:

This Balmoral Dueto is a nice medium bodied smoke that is quite simple in terms of the complexity, but has a nice distinct flavor profile with the nuts and coffee notes. Definitely something all cigar smokers can enjoy at anytime of day. For me personally, when I didn’t want a power packed smoke, this would be a good soft alternative. I’d buy this again when I see it out there.
