This Balmoral Anejo XO Oscuro is a nice shiny in-between a milk and dark chocolate color. It has very few veins and visible, but tight seams.
Pre-Light:
Aroma – Cedar and Barnyard

Cold Draw – Light cedar and sweet tobacco
After Toast:
First Third – Espresso, cocoa powder, spice and black pepper start this smoke off. The burn is sharp and ash holds through the third.
Second Third – The cocoa powder continues here with a slight citrus zest like note and some baking spice. Nice smooth transition and full body. The burn is sharp and ash falls at the halfway point.
Final Third – The Cocoa and cedar really hold the rest of this smoke down and is heavy on the palate. Really nice full bodied experience. The burn remains sharp.
Suggested Pairing:
Wine – Opus One Overture
Scotch – Balvenie 14 yr Caribbean Cask
Overall Experience:
This Balmoral Anejo XO Oscuro had a really great notes of cocoa and cedar leading the way with some citrus and spice interwoven into the experience. This full bodied smoke experience was a consistently good one and we would definitely smoke this again if the opportunity presented itself.
