2015 Meiomi Chardonnay
This is a wine review of a 2015 Meiomi Chardonnay by Meiomi Wines. This wine is from the California region, but more specifically 44% Sonoma, 29% Monterey and 27% Santa Barbara. This wine has 5.5 g/L of acidity, 13.8% alcohol content and a 3.5pH.
The bottle has a dark yellow brownish hue with a gold cap with a beige label and gold green fonts. Now onto the good stuff, the wine itself is a pale straw like in color with a slight variation on the rim that hints of green.
Strong oak, vanilla scents and baking spices with underlying traces of green apple and pear. This wine is youthful as it only has primary and secondary notes on the nose.
This wine is full bodied and hits the beginning portion of your tongue then slowly works its way around to the outside and under to the center portion where it lingers. This Meiomi Chardonnay has a medium acidity and intensity level. On the initial sip, the French oak and vanilla flavor are predominate almost leaving a roasted marshmallow/charred wood taste on the finish. Slight fruit but the strength of the initial oak and vanilla overpower that right out of the gate. As my taste buds adjusted, the aromas described earlier of green/golden apple become evident followed by pear. The acidity helps round out the flavor within a few sips to make this an incredibly enjoyable experience. 2015 Meiomi Chardonnay has a nice mineral component on the finish which leaves a clean refreshing feel on the palate. The creaminess of the wine continues to coat the inside of your mouth long after the wine is gone and leaves you looking for your next sip.
The overall experience of this bottle of wine was great. The various flavors revealing themselves over time, sip after sip, really made me want to keep going to uncover additional subtle flavors. This is made for drinking now and not suitable for too much aging.

Smooth, opulent layers of lemon peel and stone fruit are heightened by sweet smells of crème brûlée, butterscotch, baked apple, shortbread, roasted marshmallow, and spices. The mid-palate is fleshy and rich, followed by a clean, mineral finish.
