Wine Review: 2015 Coppola Chardonnay

Basic Information

Name –  2015 Coppola Chardonnay – Diamond Collection

Vintage – 2015

Region – California – Monterey

Varietal – Chardonnay

Pricing – $11.29

Acidity – Medium +

Alcohol –  13.5%

Appearance – This is a clear wine that is medium lemon in color.

Aroma/Nose – The nose is clean, with medium intensity of green apple, peach, spice and vanilla.

Palate – Wine is dry with medium body. It has a creamy texture that brings green apple and citrus straight to the palate followed by a light vanilla flavor.

Finish – The finish is medium in length and takes the vanilla to a toasted flavor from the oak.

Overall Experience – The Coppola Chardonnay  is a good wine but I felt the balance was off just a bit.  The intensity of the oak overpowered the other flavor profile of the wine. Not one of my favorites and probably would not buy again.

Food – Pork, fish, poultry

Cigar – E.P. Carrillo New Wave or CAO Black

Wine Accolades

Gold San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition

2017 Critics Challenge – 94pts.

2017 Orange County Wine Society Wine Competition – Gold

Winemakers Tasting Notes

Bright and balanced, highlighted by juicy apple, cantaloupe and pear flavors enveloped in a crème brûlée finish.
